The collet tool is useful where you are making multiple joins or unlocking multiple joins. It is NOT essential when joining or separating pipe and fittings. Pressing the tool behind the fitting sleeve allows easy insert of the pipe. Holding the tool next to the sleeve, and depressing the sleeve, allows for easy removal of the pipe. (Collet must be removed first).
