destination-1

TWO NIGHTS FROM HERE:JINGELLIC RESERVE

If your ideal weekend is somewhere you can pull up by the river, put the feet up and not have much else planned, Jingellic is worth knowing about.

The reserve sits right on the Murray and is a free public caravan and camping area, with the Jingellic Pub right next door if cooking dinner isn’t part of the plan. The campground operates on a first in, best dressed basis, so busy weekends are worth planning around.

It’s the kind of trip that doesn’t need much of an itinerary: van, river, a couple of days off and maybe a pub meal.

destination-2

TWO NIGHTS FROM HERE:ORRORAL VALLEY

Not every weekend away needs a big drive or a packed itinerary.

Orroral Campground in Namadgi is a good one when you just want to get the van out, slow things down and spend a couple of nights surrounded by bush.

There are unpowered sites for caravans and campervans, the Orroral River nearby, walking straight from the campground and a bit of local history to explore around the old homestead and tracking station site.

A couple of practical things before you go: book ahead, bring your own drinking water and don’t count on reliable phone reception.
